The town of Mondavio is situated within the Province of Pesaro and Urbino and has a population of around 4,000 residents.

It stands at an elevation of 280 metres above sea level and is included in the list of Borghi Più Belli d'Italia (most beautiful villages in Italy). Places of interest nearby include Corinaldo, Ostra, Fossombrone, Mondolfo and Senigallia. ​

Mondavio is a small hilltop town located in the Marche region of central Italy. It is situated in the province of Pesaro e Urbino, in the northern part of Marche. Mondavio is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture, historical significance, and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
History
The history of Mondavio dates back to ancient times, with evidence of early settlements in the area. However, the town's most significant period was during the Renaissance when it became a strategic military outpost for the powerful Della Rovere family, who ruled the Duchy of Urbino.

The famous architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini designed the impressive Rocca Roveresca, a fortress built to protect the town during the turbulent times of the 15th century.

  • Museo delle Carrozze: The Carriage Museum showcases a collection of historical carriages and coaches, offering a glimpse into the region's transportation history.
  • Local Cuisine: Mondavio is known for its delicious traditional cuisine, which includes specialties like cappelletti pasta, porchetta, and the famous Crescia sfogliata, a type of savory flatbread.
  • Festivals: In addition to its historical and cultural attractions, Mondavio hosts several festivals and events throughout the year, such as the Festa del Carciofo (Artichoke Festival) and the Palio del Daino, a medieval festival celebrating the town's history.
