The region of Marche's Borghi Più Belli d'Italia is a collection of 25 towns and villages that have been given the award by the association of the same name. In the whole of Italy there are now more than 300 borghi that have been given the status among the most beautiful in Italy and Marche has a significant collection.
Mass international tourism is yet to hit Marche and it remains one of the most beautiful regions of Italy to explore. Aside from its miles of sandy beaches on the Adriatic Coast, its interior is characterised by rolling hills which are punctuated not just by the towns and villages below, but dozens of outstanding others. |
Highlights among this collection are the historic hill town of Grottammare which overlooks a modern seaside resort, while the fortresses at Mondavio and Gradara give just a hint of the histories behind them. Offida, Corinaldo and Treia are just a few more that tantalise with their aesthetic charm but each one in its own turn has something unique to offer, from its cuisine to its cultural traditions.
