Mount or Monte Carpegna is shared between Marche and the neighbouring region of Emilia Romagna to its north. On the Marche side, it's situated within the Province of Pesaro & Urbino, reaching a maximum height of 1,415 metres above sea level. 

The main places of interest nearby the mountain include Mercatale Lake and the towns of Sassocorvaro and Macerata Feltria.
