Mountain villages such as Siusi allo Sciliar are bursting with character from their pretty churches to the dazzling Alpine landscapes that surround them.

Stenico is another of these villages but perhaps most famous for its Castel Stenico fortress which is one of the finest castles in the region. Further villages that merit a visit are tiny Rasun di Sotto, Funes or Trafoi at the foot of the Stelvio National Park.
