The two provinces of Molise mark the eastern and western sides of the region. Molise is one of the 20 regions of Italy and within most regions there are a number of provinces. Each province then has a larger number of comunes which are the towns and villages.
Covering the eastern side of Molise is Campobasso Province which is bound by the Adriatic Coast to its east and by Isernia Province to its west. Isernia Province shares regional borders with Abruzzo to its north, Lazio to its west and Campania to the south. The largest of the two provinces of Molise is Campobasso Province which covers an area of 2,925 km² and contains 84 comunes. |
