Anagni  Cathedral​

The Anagni Cathedral is by far the most famous monument in the little town of Anagni in the region of Lazio. The Romanesque style Cathedral was constructed between 1072 and 1104 although the interior was later refurbished in Gothic Lombard style in 1250. 

Little Anagni was once one of the most important places in Christendom as it was the summer residence of the Popes.

​The cathedral has witnessed various historical events, including the infamous "Outrage of Anagni" in 1303 when Pope Boniface VIII was held captive within its walls.
