The Cogne Valley is a picturesque area of Valle d'Aosta that stretches south from the region's main valley area to climb the Gran Paradiso National Park which shares a border with Piedmont.
From the pretty town of Aymavilles, the road climbs sharply before reaching the heart of the valley area and the villages of Epinel and Cretaz. Beyond these tiny villages is the slightly larger Cogne which becomes a ski resort during the winter. At other times of the year, the Cogne Valley offers a picturesque landscape where wild animals such as Ibex can be found. |
