The valley regions of Valle d'Aosta provide some of the most breathtaking landscapes in north-western Italy. Valle d'Aosta itself is of course a region in a valley but the selection below all branch out in different directions, leading up into the mountains from the main valley road that runs through the area.

Perhaps the most picturesque of all is the Lys Valley which leaves the main road at Pont-Saint-Martin and climbs past pretty villages such as Fontainemore, Lillianes and Gaby before reaching Gressoney-Saint-Jean and its famous Castello Savoia. The Cogne Valley and Valpelline Valley also offer their own beautiful scenery.
