Hill Towns of Molise

The hill towns of Molise provide some of the most fascinating days out in the region and some unusual landscapes to enjoy.

Starting with the village of Bagnoli del Trigno, the voyage of discovery takes us to a place where clusters of multiple-coloured buildings gather around a rock from which a church soars above.

There's no doubting that the main purpose for the construction of these towns and villages was to provide protection against unfriendly neighbours; this can be seen perfectly with the village of Cerro al Volturno which wraps around a hill topped by a fortress.
