Some of the most historic towns of Piedmont provide a glittering array of fascinating days out in the region. One of the most eye-catching is Varallo Sesia with its immaculate town centre overlooking a river and providing picture postcard scenery.
The town of Susa in the Metropolitan City of Turin province dates back to Roman times and there are several traces of the period still standing in the town. Ivrea was recently included as the latest addition to Italy's UNESCO World Heritage Sites while the town of Mondovì can boast one of the prettiest squares in Piedmont and a funicular railway system that links the upper and lower towns. |
