The beach resort of Lido di Scanzano is situated on the Ionian Coast, in the Province of Matera. 

Potenza, the regional capital of Basilicata, lies around 130 kilometres north west of Lido di Scanzano by road. Among the places of interest within a short distance are Marina di Pisticci and Metaponto Archaeological Park.
