The town of Moliterno is situated within the Province of Potenza and has a population of 3,842 inhabitants.

Standing at an elevation of 879 metres above sea level, it covers a total area of 98 km². There's one hotel in the town while nearby places of interest include Lagonegro, Viggiano, Spinoso and Guardia Perticara.
