The hill town of Posada is situated within​ the Province of Nuoro, a distance of 231 kilometres north-east of Cagliari, the regional capital of Sardinia. Standing at an elevation of 37 metres above sea level, it has a population of around 3,000 residents.

Some of the nearby places of interest include Spiaggia La Caletta, Cala Brandinchi and the Orosei Gulf coastal area.

History
Posada has ancient origins dating back to the Nuragic civilization, as evidenced by the nearby Nuraghe Della Fava, an ancient megalithic structure. Throughout history, Posada was occupied by various civilizations, including the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, and Romans. It served as a strategic coastal defense post due to its elevated position and views of the surrounding area.

During the Middle Ages, Posada became an important town under the rule of the Giudicato of Torres and later the Giudicato of Gallura. The historic center, with its narrow alleys, medieval walls, and stone buildings, still reflects the town's medieval past.
