The Orange Flag towns of Lazio are eight of the most charming locations in the region, each one a little different.
The Bandiera Arancione is a mark of excellence awarded by the Touring Club Italiano association, to towns that meet a number of criteria in terms of facilities for tourists and aesthetics. Among these towns we find Trevignano Romano which sites on Lake Bracciano, one of the loveliest lakeside towns in Italy. Also lakeside is Nemi in the Castelli Romani of the Alban Hills, while Leonessa and San Donato Val di Comino offer their own charms. |
Arpino is an historic hill town in the Ciociaria area of Frosinone Province; its historical links derive from its association with two consuls of the Roman Empire who once called it home. Cicero is the most famous of the two and he is commemorated in various ways around the town. Fossanova is a tiny borgo with a magnificent abbey as its centrepiece, and the town of Bassiano Romano with its medieval stone walls completes the collection. The beautiful hill town of Labro can boast a castle and stunning views across to nearby Lake Piediluco.
