The Blue Flag locations of Calabria are the beaches and lakes that have been handed the prestigious award that denotes the quality and cleanliness of the water at the chosen site. 

​Known as the Bandiera Blu in Italian, the organisation that manages the list makes rigorous checks on locations across the globe and those that don't meet the strict criteria are struck off until the following year when they have another chance to be included. 

​As the award is constantly updated, it's become a byword for choosing a beach to swim in and a popular scheme in Italy.
