Access is via a short path or steps from the main road, and the beach includes both free and serviced areas in summer.
  • Scogliera di Copanello is a stretch of jagged coastline just south of the main beach, popular with snorkellers and divers. The rocks create natural pools and underwater ledges, with marine life visible in the shallows. The area is also suitable for sunbathing on flat rocks and is accessible on foot.
  • Grotta delle Ninfe lies inland from the coast and is a natural thermal spring enclosed within a small archaeological site. Once used by the Greeks and Romans, the grotto was part of a spa complex linked to the ancient settlement of Scylletium. It is open seasonally and included in guided visits.
  • Belvedere di Copanello is a clifftop viewpoint located near the coastal road, offering wide views over the Ionian Sea and the curve of the gulf. The lookout includes benches and parking, and it is a popular stop for photos and sunset views, especially in the warmer months.
  • Footpath to Caminia follows the coastal ridge and offers a scenic connection between the two resorts. The trail is relatively short and includes sea views, shaded sections, and access to rocky coves. It is suitable for casual walkers and takes around 30 minutes each way.

How to Get to Copanello
​By Rail: The closest train station to Copanello is at Stalettì, around 3 kilometres away, served by regional trains on the Jonica line operated by Trenitalia. More frequent services are available from the larger station at Catanzaro Lido, approximately 10 minutes away by car. From there, connections run north to Crotone and south towards Roccella Ionica and Reggio Calabria.

By Road: Copanello is located just off the SS106 Jonica coastal road. It is around 20 minutes (15 kilometres) from Catanzaro, 50 minutes (60 kilometres) from Lamezia Terme, and 1 hour 30 minutes (110 kilometres) from Crotone. Public parking is available near the beach and local accommodation areas.

Nearest International Airports:

  • Lamezia Terme Airport: Located 55 kilometres away, with a driving time of around 50 minutes. This is Calabria’s busiest airport, offering domestic and seasonal international routes. Car hire, taxis, and shuttle services are available for travel to the Ionian coast.
  • Crotone Airport: Positioned about 95 kilometres to the north, with a driving time of 1 hour 20 minutes. It operates a limited number of flights and is best accessed via the SS106 coastal road.
