The small beach resort of Capo Rizzuto is a frazione of the municipality called Isola di Capo Rizzuto (which incidentally, isn't an island as the name might suggest).
Capo Rizzuto lies six kilometres south of Isola di Capo Rizzuto and is quite a contrast: the larger town is largely residential and functional, while Capo Rizzuto is a small beach resort. |
At the southernmost point of Capo Rizzuto is a lighthouse which marks the end of the small peninsula, with the main area of the resort a few kilometres to the north.
It includes a lungomare (promenade) and beaches on either side of the peninsula called Spiaggia Rossa and Spiaggia Seleno. Overlooking Spiaggia Rossa is the Torre Vecchia watchtower.
Accommodation options in Capo Rizzuto leave a little bit to be desired and a greater selection can be found at nearby Le Castella with the Villa Aurora there being the pick of the bunch. There are a few places to eat in Capo Rizzuto but again, the better quality can be found in Le Castella which is the more-established resort of the two by some distance.
