Provinces of Marche
Latest update: 20 February 2022
The five provinces of Marche include that of the regional capital, Ancona, three further major towns and cities, as well as one province which is made up of two towns.
Most of the 20 regions of Italy are divided up into a series of provinces and within each province there are then a number of comunes which are the remaining towns and sometimes villages. Ancona Province which is named after the capital of Marche has the largest population with just under half a million but it's Macerata Province that covers the largest area with 2,779 km². |
Two of the remaining three provinces of Marche are named after the cities of Ascoli Piceno and Fermo, while the final province of Pesaro and Urbino takes the name of two towns.
